Some areas still flooded weeks after 2 typhoons

SEVERAL areas in Central Luzon are still flooded weeks after the onslaught of typhoons Butchoy and Carin, aggravated by the southwest monsoon or habagat, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

In its latest bulletin, the NDRRMC said Central Luzon had the highest number of flooded areas, followed by Northern Mindanao, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The NDRRMC said at least 63 areas across the country were still under water due to inclement weather.

Affected population rose to 1,715, 194 families or 6,426,994 persons, with Central Luzon as the worst hit in terms of population with 1,000,332 families or 3,422,916 people.

Ten areas in the country reported landslide incidents including Region 1, Region 2,  Calabarzon, Region 7-9, 11-12, Caraga and BARMM.
