Las Piñas City has been honored by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for its exemplary performance as one of the top five local government units compliant with Republic Act 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
City officials received the award during the Monday flag-raising ceremony from the DENR Environmental Management Bureau – National Capital Region.
Vice Mayor April Aguilar presided over the ceremony. She stated that the award was given to acknowledge the city’s efforts during the 2023 LGU-Compliance Assessment and its contributions to the Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program.
The city government was also presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for its active involvement in the proper implementation of solid waste management practices at the 2024 Solid Waste Management Summit held in Quezon City.
The ceremony also highlighted the achievements of Las Piñas students in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa, National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), and National Festival of Talents (NFOT). These students were lauded for their outstanding performances in various competitions, reflecting the city’s commitment to promoting educational success and talent development among its youth.
