The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) together with law enforcement and government agencies, as well as the private sector participated in the Exercise Tempest Wind 2024 whole-of-nation crisis response Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) on July 29 to Aug. 2, at Conrad Hotel, Pasay City.
The SMEE aimed to swiftly plan, coordinate, and execute counter-terrorism operations, applying the principles of whole-of-government and whole-of-nation approach.
The exercise kicked off July 29 with a senior leaders bilateral meeting with United States Ambassador to Manila. Mary Kay Carlson as the keynote speaker. Executive Secretary and Anti-Terrorism Council chairman Lucas Bersamin, and National Security Adviser Eduardo Año were also present.
Tempest Wind 2024, a bilateral counter-terrorism exercise between the Philippines and the United States, seeks to enhance the joint operational capabilities and improve the readiness of participating forces, support agencies, and other stakeholders.
