Filipina rower Joanie Delgaco struggled to keep up with competitors at the quarterfinals of the 1,000-meter women’s single sculls in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, settling for sixth-place with a 7:58.30 finish.
“Delgaco gave all she could to push and reach the top 3, but fell short in the quarterfinals. Delgaco settles in 6th place,” the Philippine Sports Commission posted on X (formerly Twitter) after watching the results.
Delgaco was part of the third batch that sailed in the quarterfinals. She was grouped with defending champion Emma Twigg of New Zealand, who eventually topped the race. Aurelia Maxima Katharina Janzen of Switzerland and Virginia Diaz Rias of Spain went second and third respectively.
