The Philippines is hosting the Karaoke World Championships (KWC) this year, the biggest event for the karaoke community and amateur singers. Auditions are happening in key cities this month, with the grand finals scheduled for August.
Since its inception in Finland in 2003, KWC has provided a platform for talented amateur singers worldwide. This year’s event at SM Supermalls, produced by The New Channel (TNC) with support from True Creators Philippines Advertising Inc. and Praxis Experiential Ad. Inc., promises an extraordinary experience for Filipino culture-loving music enthusiasts.
Apple Esplana-Manansala, president of TNC, expressed excitement about the event, highlighting generous support from sponsors like SM Supermalls, SM Online, Sante Barley Max, Hapee Toothpaste, Everest Appliances, Katinko, Unisol, Quanta, and Tiffany Chocolates.
Winners will represent the Philippines in Finland and receive special prizes, cash awards, and chances to boost their careers. Sante Barley supports the event by promoting health and wellness to help singers perform their best.
For Manansala, hosting KWC highlights local talents, providing international recognition and exposure.
“KWC isn’t just about individual singers. It’s about national pride,” she said.
After the first leg of auditions in Mindanao on July 13 at SM General Santos City, the next auditions will be held in Visayas on July 21 at SM City Cebu, in Luzon on July 27 at SM Pampanga, and in Metro Manila on Aug. 3 at SM North EDSA Skydome.
The Grand Finals on August 16 at SM North EDSA Skydome will feature performances by Nyoy Volante, Hazel Faith, and Maki.
