Filipinos bound for Hong Kong can look forward to the world-renowned cable car experience known as Ngong Ping 360, which is offering 15-percent discounts at select retail and food shops until the end of the year.
Dubbed one of the “10 best cable car rides in the world,” Ngong Ping 360 is in fact Asia’s longest cable car system with a bi-cable ropeway. One ride encompasses a 25-minute cable car journey of almost six kilometers from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping.
To avail of the “Pinoy perk,” Filipino travelers simply need to present their Philippine passport at Ngong Ping Village’s Holiday 360 Information Center, where they can then receive the discount coupons.
According to Ngong Ping 360 Managing Director James Tung, this is their way of attracting Filipinos to visit the country and the cable car experience.
“Filipinos are taking over which is a very, very welcoming scene for us. That is why we are here trying to grow on that strength,” Tung said of the growing market of tourist arrivals from the Philippines.
“The Philippines has always been a very important source market for Hong Kong. Actually one of the largest in terms of tourist arrivals prior to the pandemic. And post-pandemic actually it has come back very fast as well,” he added.
Last year, 763,778 Filipino visitors arrived in Hong Kong, surpassing their Thai (450,372), Singaporean (400,029), Malaysian (258,191), Indonesian (252,432), and Vietnamese (34,662) counterparts.
“Guests here in the Philippines are now also looking for more unique experiences, more natural experiences… We actually do offer very nice, very unique natural scenery. The cable car ride itself is already an attraction in itself,” Tung said.
Aside from the Ngong Ping Cable Car, Ngong Ping Village, and Crystal+, Ngong Ping 360 is operating Doraemon-themed cable cars and other limited attractions until August.
