The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported over the weekend new signs of restiveness both of Kanlaon and Taal volcanoes.
In a 24-hours observation of active volcanoes bulletin released by NDRRMC on Sunday, PHIVOLCS said Kanlaon in Negros Island exhibited 14 volcanic earthquakes on Saturday.
Kanlaon was still emitting an average of 5,397 tons/day of SO2 from the summit crater, which was the highest emission recorded from the volcano since instrumental gas monitoring began.
On the same observation of NDRRMC on 29 June, the Taal Volcano in Batangas, on the other hand, released a volcanic tremor lasting on an average of 310 minutes long (5 hours). Rex Espiritu
In an earlier advisory on Saturday, PHIVOLCS said the notice of two weak phreatic activity in Taal.
The two agencies also reminded the public that entry to the respective Permanent Danger Zones of two volcanoes is strictly prohibited.
“DOST-PHIVOLCS is closely monitoring Taal Volcano’s activity and any new significant development will be immediately communicated to all stakeholders.” said PHILVOCS.
