The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported a rocket launch from the People’s Republic of China this Friday evening.
In a memo signed by Office of the Civil Defense Assistant Secretary Hernando Caraig Jr, the said launch is scheduled between 7pm to 11pm on 28 June to 30 June 2024.
“The People’s Republic of China is scheduled to launch the Long March 7A from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Wenchang, Hainan,” the memo reads.
According to NDRRMC, the rockets are expected to drop within the identified drop zone approximately 75NM away from Burgos, Ilocos Norte and 126NM away from Santa Ana, Cagayan.
The agency also recommended Marine access to be extra cautious from the area between the time frame.
“PCG, BFAR, DILG and DENR-NAMRIA are advised to consider temporary restrictions and the issuance of Notice to Mariners, Coastal Navigational Warnings on NAVAREA XI warnings, as applicable in the identified drop zones.”
The Philippine Space Agency also reminded the public against retrieving or coming close to the rocket materials to minimize risks from remnants of toxic substances.
“The public is advised to immediately inform local authorities of any suspected debris sighted at sea or land.”
