MPCALA Holdings Inc. said Thursday it is on track to complete the Cavite segment of the Cavite Laguna Expressway (Calax) by the third quarter of 2025.

“We are still working on the right of way, but it’s progressing. There are two remaining subsections —subsection 1 and subsection 2,” said MPCALA president and general manager Raul Ignacio.

Ignacio said the government delivered 100 percent right of way (ROW) for segment 3 (Governor’s Drive Interchange to Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange and 76 percent for segment 1 (Kawit Interchange) and 2 (Open Canal Interchange).

Ignacio said the company expects to open the Governor’s Drive Interchange to Silang Interchange by August this year.

MPCALA opened the Silang Interchange, a 3.9-kilometer, 2×2 lane subsection of the CALAX Cavite segment in November last year. It will be crucial in decongesting the busiest highway in Cavite, offering a faster route to the emerging tourism destinations of Silang town and Tagaytay City.

It is expected to cater to additional 5,000 daily motorists, providing them with convenient access to these vibrant areas.

CALAX’s operational segment spans 14.24 kilometers, with interchanges at Greenfield-Mamplasan, Laguna Technopark, Laguna Blvd., Santa Rosa-Tagaytay and Silang East Interchange.

The entire CALAX project will connect to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit, Cavite when completed.

MPCALA Holdings is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC).

MPTC is the biggest toll road developer and operator in the Philippines. Aside from CALAX and CAVITEX, MPTC also holds the concession rights for North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
