MBC welcomes Trabaho Act IRR

The Makati Business Club (MBC) expressed support to the National Economic Development Authority’s (NEDA) issuance of the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for the Trabaho Para sa Bayan (TBP) Act.

NEDA director Girlie Grace Casimiro-Igtiben presented the law’s IRR to business groups during the Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Development Alliance (AMDev) quarterly meeting.

“We recognize that your [private sector] role is very critical in improving the implementation of the act. Insights from you on how you view the conditions of the present employment landscape are very important in the development of the master plan,” she said.

The TBP Act, signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in 2023, empowers NEDA to create a national employment generation and recovery plan. The MBC commended the law’s focus on high-value employment opportunities.

It said that by equipping the Filipino workforce with advanced skills and improving competence, the TBP Act could address emigration issues and incentivize skilled Filipinos to stay in the country.
