Lady Altas to hold tryouts for NCAA Season 100

Las Pinas City — The Perpetual Lady Altas and the defending champion Junior Altas Girls will hold open tryouts on June 28 and 29 at the Home of the Altas Gymnasium 2 inside the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta campus in Barangay Pamplona III in preparation for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 100, which unfurls in August, hosted by Lyceum of the Philippines University.

Head coach Sandy Rieta said the tryouts are open to newly graduated Senior High and transferees for the Lady Altas, while the Junior Girls’ team will welcome incoming Grades 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.

“If you know you have the talent and skills, try out with the team,” Rieta said.

Four of the Lady Altas have finished their playing years, namely Season 98 MVP Mary Rhose Dapol, Razel Aldea, Krisha Cordero and Charmaine Ocado.

Four spikers also graduated from Senior High — Finals’ MVP Jemalyn Menor, who has been recruited to the college team, team captain Francheska Delgado, Genna Cris Jimenez and Aizel Reyes.

Holdovers of the Season 99 lineup that narrowly entered the Final Four with a 5-4 win loss record in the elims are Jhasmine Sapin, Daizerlyn Uy, Winnie Bedana, Shaila Omipon, Fianne Arrola, CJ Almeniana, Camille Bustamante, Marian Andal, Charisse Enrico, and Joanna Denise Lozano.

As for the Jason Sapin-coached Junior Lady Altas, left with the team are Isabel Baser, Sherrie Rose Acosta, Ashlee Buenaventura, Jemma Pingol, Jamine Monte, Janie Espiritu, Mara Javier, Coelle David, Jamaica San Juan and Ramielle Panganiban.

The tryouts are set from 12 noon to 4 p.m. for the Lady Altas and 4 to 8 p.m. for the Junior Girls.
