FFCCCII hosts medical forum on Chinese, western medicine

The Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII), led by its social responsibility committee, held a medical forum on June 16, 2024 with the themes: “Evolution, Treatment, and Prevention of COVID-19” and “Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Management in the Post-Pandemic Era.”

FFCCCII vice president William Yap Castro reflected on the challenges and sacrifices faced by the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He underscored the importance of valuing life, remaining vigilant against potential virus mutations and fostering a community well-versed in epidemic prevention. Castro expressed hope that the forum would empower attendees with essential knowledge to build a healthier society and contribute to national prosperity and development.

Dr. Jeannie Ang Wong, a pediatrician, delivered a detailed lecture on the “Evolution, Treatment and Prevention of COVID-19.”

She provided an in-depth analysis of the infectious characteristics of COVID-19 variants and their impact on the efficacy of existing vaccines. Dr. Wong emphasized the critical role of vaccination and booster shots in preventing the spread of the virus. She also highlighted various preventive measures in an accessible manner, calling for increased community awareness and proactive prevention efforts. Julie Ann Lope

Dr. Zheng Qiming presented on “Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Management in the Post-Pandemic Era.” He discussed the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in addressing the after effects of COVID-19, aiding in rapid recovery and immunity enhancement.

Dr. Zheng elaborated on personalized traditional Chinese medicine health management plans tailored to individual needs, showcasing therapies and health-preserving methods that boost overall health and immunity.

The forum featured cutting-edge medical knowledge and practical treatment and prevention suggestions from both Dr. Wong and Dr. Zheng. The event underscored the effective combination of modern and traditional Chinese medicine and reflected FFCCCII’s commitment to social responsibility by raising the health awareness of the community.
