156 Region 1 policemen complete water search and rescue training

A total of 156 Region 1 policemen have completed their five-day water search and rescue (WASAR) training at the Philippine Coast Guard district in North Western Luzon (CGDNWZN).

In his remarks during the commencement rites, Philippine National Police Region 1 director Brig. Gen. Lou Evangelista commended the graduates and the instructors for their commitment and hard work to during the intensive WASAR training.

For his part, CGDNWLZN chief Capt. Ivan Roldan highlighted the significance of the training in bolstering the region’s emergency response capabilities during natural disasters such as typhoons and floods that frequently affect Region 1.

The newly minted WASAR policemen are deemed more capable in carrying out water-borne rescue operations, significantly enhancing the region’s capacity to response to emergencies and save lives.

The initiative underscores the ongoing efforts of the PNP and PCG to improve disaster preparedness and ensure the safety and resilience of communities in Region 1.
