The Philippine Jin Jiang General Association Inc. held the “China’s Search for Roots Summer Camp” (Chen Zu Chang Camp) on May 31, 2024.
The camp aimed to connect participants with their heritage, fostering personal growth and deepening their understanding of their roots, while developing valuable life skills.
The first day began with adaptive training sessions designed to build team spirit. Campers introduced themselves, engaged in interactive group games and learned the importance of teamwork and communication.
The activities also included lessons on basic social etiquette, helping to create a cohesive and respectful camp environment.
Following the training, participants visited the Jin Jiang Experience Center where they explored the achievements and development path of Jin Jiang since China’s Reform and Opening-Up.
The center showcased various documents and exhibits that highlighted the transformation of Jin Jiang from a poor and backward area into a modern city, emphasizing themes of entrepreneurship, innovative spirit and teamwork.
The day’s final activity immersed campers in the traditional Chinese culture of martial arts, recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Experienced Chinese teachers guided participants through the basic standing postures and breathing techniques. The exercise also provided physical and mental health benefits to promote overall well-being.
