Taguig removes store signs promoting smoking

The Taguig City government has removed signage endorsing cigarettes in local convenience stores and painted banners promoting smoking.

The operation was conducted by the Taguig Smoke-Free Task Force in coordination with barangay officials, aligning with the local government’s intensified implementation of City Ordinance No. 15, also known as the “Comprehensive Smoke-Free Ordinance.”

The anti-smoking campaign took place in Barangay North Signal Village, with Mayor Laarni Cayetano stating that the effort is part of the city’s strategy to eliminate visual triggers and reduce public exposure to smoking-related advertisements.

Task force operatives posted anti-smoking stickers in sari-sari stores, public areas, and public vehicles. They also distributed pamphlets to educate residents on the dangers of smoking and the benefits of the Smoke-Free Ordinance.

Mayor Cayetano emphasized her administration’s commitment to enforcing the Comprehensive Smoke-Free Ordinance in all barangays to promote a healthier, smoke-free environment for all residents.
