LTO Quezon City to enforce ‘no plate, no travel’ policy for tricycles by July 1

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Sunday vowed to implement its ‘no plate, no travel’ policy on tricycles used as public transportation in Quezon City starting July 1.

It cited the agency was able to address the almost 3,000 backlogs on tricycle license plates in the city last month.

“With all the license plates already distributed to all tricycles being used in public transport in Quezon City, your LTO will presume that tricycles with no license plates but are being used in transporting passengers in Quezon City are colorum, or operating illegally,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said.

LTO shall coordinate with the Quezon City government in enforcing the policy.

Mendoza said the ‘no plate, no travel’ rule in Quezon City will serve as a pilot run of the stricter road safety and anti-colorum measures, which the LTO plans to implement nationwide, particularly on four-wheeled vehicles.
