PBBM declares June 17 holiday for Eid’l Adha

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has announced that June 17 is a public holiday to mark Eid’l Adha, the Islam’s Feast of Sacrifice.

Signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on June 4, Proclamation No. 579 emphasizes Eid’l Adha’s significance as a major Islamic celebration.

The date of this holiday was proposed by the National Commission on Filipino Muslims according to the 1445 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.

Republic Act No. 9849 designates the 10th day of Zhul Hijja, the 12th month of the Islamic Calendar, as a national holiday for Eid’l Adha, which varies in date.
