In the ever-evolving landscape of work culture, traditional office setups are giving way to innovative alternatives, with coworking spaces at the forefront. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift towards remote and flexible work, highlighting the relevance of coworking spaces.

While exploring the vibrant and historic streets of Escolta in Binondo, I came across a coworking space named FIRST Coworking Community, situated on the fifth floor of the First United Building.

FIRST Coworking Community started in 2017. The owners of the First United Building, Roberto Sylianteng and Lorraine Young-Sylianteng, are pioneers of coworking space in the heart of the historic Escolta.

It offers a unique blend of history and innovation, catering to the needs of modern professionals while preserving the charm of its historic setting.

FIRST offers flexible pricing to accommodate various needs and durations.  For hourly use, the rate is P70 per hour.  For short-term use, the rates are P250 pesos for four hours and P400 for 8 hours.  Monthly rates are set at P6,000 a month.

For longer-term commitments, quarterly packages are available at P5,750 a month, semi-annual packages at P5,500 a month and annual packages at P5,250 a month.

For those needing space for events or meetings, the community provides event space at P2,000 per hour with a minimum booking of three hours, which includes time for setup and teardown (ingress and egress).

The meeting table is available at P750 an hour, with a minimum booking of two hours, including ingress and egress.

A virtual office can be arranged for P3,000 per month, with free 7-day coworking pass per month.

It is equipped with a range of amenities to ensure a productive and comfortable work environment. These include reliable high-speed fiber optic internet, flexible open desks for individuals and teams, dedicated meeting areas for collaborations, and comfortable lounge areas for relaxation and informal discussions.

Office equipment such as printer, copier and scanner are available, and complimentary beverages are provided to keep you refreshed throughout the day.

The strategic location of Binondo makes it an ideal spot for coworking spaces like FIRST. Situated in Manila’s commercial and cultural heart, it also offers excellent connectivity to major transportation hubs, business districts and tourist attractions.

As coworking spaces become increasingly popular among professionals and entrepreneurs seeking flexible and conducive work environments, establishing one in Binondo is an excellent idea.

Gone are the days when cubicles and corner offices were the norm. Today, flexibility and mobility are highly valued, driving the demand for coworking spaces like FIRST. These spaces have emerged as vibrant hubs where freelancers, entrepreneurs, remote workers, and small teams converge to share resources, ideas, and experiences.

FIRST stands as a testament to both Binondo’s rich heritage and its forward-thinking spirit.
