NAIA Terminal 3 undergoes electrical upgrades to enhance passenger experience

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 experienced another scheduled power interruption on Tuesday as part of ongoing electrical system upgrades.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) announced that these maintenance activities, aimed at upgrading the terminal’s electrical systems, will continue until May 28.

MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines assured passengers that these upgrades, scheduled from April 2 to May 28, will not disrupt passenger and baggage processing or flight operations.

“Major terminal areas will have light and air conditioning during the day,” Ines stated.

The electrical upgrades involve replacing components of the medium circuit breakers in eight different electrical substations within Terminal 3.

These replacements are carefully scheduled to occur after the last flight and during off-peak hours. The maintenance work will last from 15 minutes to a maximum of three hours, ensuring no impact on the first flight of the day. Maintenance hours are from 12:01 a.m. to 3 a.m.

During these hours, the south side of the terminal will experience reductions in lighting and air conditioning in the hallways and lobbies from the 1st to the 4th level, staircases, certain offices on the 2nd and 3rd levels, surface parking, and multi-level parking.

Elevators and escalators on this side may also be inoperative. All Terminal 3 generator sets are on standby to handle contingencies during the maintenance works.
