The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, known as the world’s biggest, is returning to Manila for its 15th year. This time, the sale aims to reach one million new readers and calls its nationwide tour “Big Bad Tour: Mission 1 Million New Readers.”
The Manila leg of the sale opens today at Parqal Mall Aseana City in Parañaque.
During the media conference for the event on May 15, the book fair revealed its mission of reaching one million new readers through a tour all over the country.
“We want to make a mark in history and we want [the] Philippines to be the first to spearhead the mission of one million new readers,” said Big Bad Wolf Philippines Managing Partner Carol Chuaying.
Several key figures who also graced the event were Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, DSWD Undersecretary for Legislative Affairs Fatima Aliah Q. Dimaporo, Aseana City CEO Delfin Angelo Wenceslao, Metrobank Credit Card General Usage Head Emily Koa, IKEA Marketing and PR Manager Patrick Marcelo, IKEA Philippines Country Inspiration & Communication Manager Jasmin Cruz, 2GO Business Unit Head for 2GO Forwarding Francis Anne Alonzo Babar, and Parqal General Manager Michael Sy.
Armed with a desire to make a difference and promote the act of reading books amidst the age of technology, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale first began its journey in Malaysia in 2009, spearheaded by Jacqueline Ng and her husband Andrew Yap.
Since then, it has grown to reach a total of 37 cities in 15 countries, eventually making its way to the Philippines in 2018, bringing with it its advocacy of improving literacy through selling books to Filipino readers.
As it celebrates its 5th year in the country, the upcoming book fair will have a wide variety of books on sale with massive deals and promos, meet-and-greets with famous authors, storytelling sessions, and other interactive events.
Metrobank cardholders can enjoy a 0 percent installment promo for three months on book purchases worth at least P3,000 during the Big Bad Wolf fair. Additionally, attendees can look forward to a special treat from IKEA at the event.
The Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will run until June 2. Admission for the whole duration of the event is free and doors will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 am.
