Red Planet, the leading budget hotel chain in Asia, announced the full opening of its largest hotel—the 245-room Red Planet BGC The Fort, on May 30, 2024.
The 14th property of Red Planet in the Philippines, which had a soft opening with 45 rooms in December 2023, represents an investment of at least P500 million for the company, said Red Planet chief executive Florent Humeau, a 41-year-old French national.
Red Planet, now controlled by Japanese developer Polaris Holdings Co. Ltd., built the new hotel on a prime property along 10th Ave. corner 40th St. near malls and restaurants.
Humeau said Red Planet, which also has five hotels in Thailand, is looking at expansion in the Philippines, targeting the opening of one hotel annually over the next five years. He said the company is looking at city centers and island destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao as the next sites of Red Planet.
He said Red Planet is also studying the franchising option for its expansion plan.
“We see significant opportunities in Davao and Cagayan de Oro. These areas lack established international budget hotel brands, and we believe our concept will be well-received,” said Humeau.
Cebu is another area of focus, with Red Planet already having a presence there.
“Cebu is a rapidly developing market, and we’re looking to expand further,” Humeau said.
Humeau said Red Planet BGC has the most affordable rates in the Fort Bonifacio area, while offering comfortable and convenient accommodation.
He said guests can enjoy features like cable TV, live streaming channels and high-speed Wi-Fi, which are unique offerings in the budget hotel segment.
Red Planet is also known for its dynamic pricing strategies and an AI system that optimizes bookings.
