THE Philippine Coast Guard’s BRP Capones, while on a joint maritime patrol with Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Fisheries Protection and Law Enforcement Group, has apprehended a fishing vessel allegedly engaged in illegal activities on the waters off Hilongos, Leyte last April 15.
The seized vessel, marked F/V Rodjard, was found to be using the banned “purse seine”, without vessel monitoring measure (VMS) installed, and with seven unlicensed crew onboard.
According to the PCG, the confiscated fish catch has an estimated market value of P 6,300.
Following the issuance of a certificate of orderly inspection by the PCG, the fishing vessel together with its owner and crew were released.
