Cebu Pacific resumes Tacloban flights

Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) announced the resumption of flight service operation at the Tacloban Airport after the Aviation authority finished with its emergency runway repair works at the airport.

Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) spokesperson Eric Apolonio said Tacloban Airport resumed normal operation at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday after it completed the emergency asphalt repair of Runway 18/36.

“CEB was able to conduct a safety assessment of the runway at the Tacloban Airport following examinations and repairs performed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines,” the CEB management said in a statement.

On Wednesday, the airline suspended at least 10 flights in Manila and Cebu to and from Tacloban Airport due to the emergency runway repair. Passengers affected have been offered options through the Manage Booking portal on the CEB website.

The CEB management clarified that the cancellation was due to an infrastructure failure at the airport, not its fault, as the damaged runway was being repaired.
