BALANGA CITY, BATAAN – To empower cancer patients, the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI), in partnership with GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. (GNPD) hosted a one-day livelihood training last March 22, 2024 at La Arnie’s Farm, Munting Batangas, Balanga City, Bataan.
The training, spearheaded by Veronica Señoreses of DTI Bataan, aims to introduce the members of the Bataan Cancer Society and Support Group to another source of income that they can use for their treatments and recovery. This helps them to find a sustainable avenue to support their families despite their current struggles.
Escaping the hustle and bustle of the city, the tranquil farm was brought alive by the seven GNPD volunteers and 35 members who wore pink-colored shirts symbolizes the unparalleled bravery and strength as they keep thriving despite the challenging situation.
Señoreses demonstrated the step-by-step process on how to create a dishwashing liquid, starting from mixing the water with the surfactant, then adding the degreaser, foam booster, scented oils, and coloring agents, then later let the participants create their own dishwashing solutions. GNPD also donated 100 dishwashing solution sets to be given to all the members of the Bataan Cancer Society & Support Group, which they can use to make up to 13 liters of dishwashing liquid.
Moreover, what made this run of Project Saysay a truly unforgettable one is the immense talent and hospitality of everyone there. Everyone sang and danced together, showing unparalleled energy despite their sickness. Arnie Santos, president of the Bataan Cancer Society & Support group said, “Sinong mag-aakalang may sakit tayo? Wala tayong sakit!” as she invited everyone to stand up, dance, and sing along to the tunes of the karaoke.
Before the volunteers bid their goodbyes, they all provided love letters to each patient – expressing their gratitude for the time they spent together and sending their heartfelt well wishes for them to keep fighting cancer. As said by one of the volunteers, Marvin Guzon, “Hindi naman ibibigay sa inyo ni Lord ang isang bagay kung hindi niyo kayang labanan.”
Initiatives like this are a vivid reminder that more than powering the grid through efficient and affordable energy solutions, GNPD is also inclined to power hope in the community. Lighting up their hearts one by one, Project Saysay is a progressive avenue that take social development programs to the next level by encouraging volunteerism among the workforce and empowering them to reach out by choosing their beneficiaries – depending on which one is closest to their hearts.
Project Saysay falls under the GNPD-CSR Brand GABAY. This brand is the umbrella upon which the Corporate Social Responsibility Team formulates community initiatives that help safeguard quality access.
