Alex Eala, who has earned around $36,392 in her young professional career over the first two months of the year 2024, continued to move up in the world rankings and rose to a new high.
The 18-year-old Eala went up by a point, to another career-high of 184, going into her campaign in the $75,000 International Tennis Federation world tour in Porto, Portugal.
With her new windfall that’s worth around P2.033 million in Philippine currency, Eala now has a total earnings of $197,630, or more than P11.043 million since she started her professional career back in 2020.
Eala, who is set to face Raluca Serban of Cyprus in the first round, is getting more points following her stints in Abu Dhabi and Indore over the last two weeks.
In the Mubadala Open last week in Abu Dhabi, Eala bowed out of contention in the first round, taking a 6-7 (4), 1-6 setback to Magda Linetter of Poland.
The other week, Eala reached the semifinals of the $50,000 Indore leg of the ITF World Tour after beating Romania’s Anca Todoni, 7-5, 6-2.
Eala then lost to Russia’s Polina Kudermetova, 4-6, 7-6(3), 2-6, in the semifinals.
In reaching the semis, Eala availed of a purse of $1,538.52.
