MMDA partners with Las Piñas City in clean-up program

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has partnered with Las Piñas City for its “Bayanihan sa Barangay” project, a comprehensive clean-up and community service initiative focused on densely populated areas.

The event was spearheaded by MMDA General Manager Usec. Procopio Lipana and City Administrator Reynaldo Balagulan, who oversaw activities including drainage declogging, trimming and pruning of trees, sidewalk clearing, and adjustment of pavement markings and
traffic signages in Barangay BFI-CAA.

The purpose of the program is to encourage residents, especially those living near estuaries, to keep their barangay clean and tidy.

The event also featured the Mobile Materials Recovery Facility where participants could exchange recyclable trash for groceries as part of the “Recyclables Mo, Palit Grocery Ko” project.

A one-stop shop query service was also provided for motorists who wished to verify if their vehicle had been involved in any traffic violations.

The MMDA also held orientation sessions on anti-smoking, anti-littering, solid waste management, disaster preparedness, and trash-to-cash programs.

City officials expressed their gratitude to MMDA and reminded residents that everyone’s help is needed to maintain cleanliness in their community.

The Bayanihan sa Barangay Project was launched late last year in Barangays San Nicolas and Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City, where MMDA personnel did drainage declogging, sidewalk clearing operations, and painting of pedestrian lanes, among others.

The MMDA plans on conducting the Bayanihan sa Barangay Project on a regular basis to maintain cleanliness in the National Capital Region.
