Caloocan gains modern mobile command vehicle from DOST

To strengthen city’s disaster response technology

The City Government of Caloocan has received a brand-new Mobile Command and Control Vehicle (MoCCoV) from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through its Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) program, on Monday, January 22 at the Caloocan Sports Complex to reinforce the city’s own disaster and emergency response initiatives.

The MoCCoV can be used to provide support to local response teams during disasters and emergencies with its state-of-the-art features including a control center and an advanced triage center for medical assistance, communications, surveillance, and portable boat equipment for rescue operations, as well as wind and solar power supply to ensure the vehicle’s self-sufficiency for more than three days in places without electricity.

City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan thanked the DOST in supporting the city’s disaster response programs and affirmed his administration’s commitment to improving these programs year after year.

Mayor Along likewise assured everyone that the MoCCoV and the city’s previously acquired equipment will be put to good use whenever needed.

The turnover event was attended by various local government and DOST officials, including District 1 Representative Rep. Oca Malapitan, DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Undersecretary Sancho A. Mabborang, and Regional Director Romelen T. Tresvalles.
