The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is conducting continuous clearing operations on major streets in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The latest operation conducted by the agency’s Special Operations Group – Strike Force resulted in the removal of Illegally parked motorcycles and vehicles, and other types of road and sidewalk obstructions on Kamias Road, 15th Avenue, 20th Avenue, P. Tuazon Street, and Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City.

A total of 45 motorists were caught and were given citation tickets while 12 vehicles were impounded.

The MMDA, with the help of police personnel and local enforcers, also conducted the road clearing operations along Mabuhay Lanes, which serve as alternate routes for private vehicles avoiding the congested Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.

MMDA chair Romando Artes continues to remind motorists to obey traffic laws and not turn the secondary roads and the sidewalks into parking lots.

Local chief executives have asked for assistance in reclaiming public roads and clearing areas in their jurisdiction from all kinds of obstruction.

Artes said the agency will not stop cleaning public roads of illegal structures and obstructions.

The clearing operation is in close coordination with local government units, the Department of Interior and Local Government, and the Philippine National Police.

The MMDA is encouraging people to cooperate and report illegally parked vehicles and other obstructions on major roads.

Owners of illegally parked vehicles will be slapped with P1,000 fine while unattended illegally parked vehicles will be fined P2,000. Towed vehicles will be brought to the agency’s impounding area in Tumana, Marikina.
