Two schools based in Tacloban City have achieved remarkable success in the recently concluded Bar exams as well as in the 2023 Nurses Licensure Examination.

The Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation Inc. College of Law secured the 5th place among law schools with 50 to 100 first-time examinees.

“We are thrilled to announce our success in the September 2023 Bar Examinations. This accomplishment is a testament to the tireless efforts of our faculty, the dedication of our students, and the academic environment we cultivate at our institution,” said Cheryl S. Lopez-Chu, Associate Dean of the Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation Inc. College of Law.

The Doña Remedios Trinidad Romualdez Educational Foundation, Inc. (DRTREFI) College of Nursing, on the other hand, logged a 100 percent passing rate in the nursing examination.

This ensured the DRTREFI bags the first place position among nursing schools in the country.

“We are immensely proud of our nursing graduates for achieving a 100% passing rate and for being recognized as the top nursing school in the country. This accomplishment is a reflection of the dedication and excellence that our nursing program upholds and our proverbial mantra: We don’t watch things happen. We make things happen,” said Dr. Socorro Salvacion-Gasco, Dean of the College of Nursing.

Established in 1995, the Dr. V. Orestes Romualdez Educational Foundation emerged in response to the closure of the Divine Word University of Tacloban, providing a haven for displaced law students and faculty.

Upholding the legacy initiated by its pioneering dean, Don Vicente Orestes Romualdez, the foundation is dedicated to maintaining a tradition of excellence in law studies.

For its part, the DRTREFI was founded in 1980 under the guidance of then Leyte Gov. Benjamin Romualdez.

Both institutions, renowned in Eastern Visayas, boast top-tier performances as leading law and medical schools.
