The Land Transportation Office said it apprehended 4,864 motor vehicle owners in a month-long implementation of the “no-registration, no-travel” policy.
LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II renewed his appeal to delinquent owners to register their vehicles, while commending the agency’s personnel for the aggressive operations.
Mendoza said the apprehension sent a strong message to delinquent vehicle owners that the agency was serious in compelling them to renew the registration of their vehicles.
“I expect for the continuity of the aggressive operation in the following months until we reach a point that the 24.7 million unregistered vehicles have been registered under this policy,” he said.
Region II or the Cagayan Valley Region recorded the most number of apprehended delinquent motor vehicles with 657, followed by Region VIII or Eastern Visayas with 531 and Region IV-B or MIMAROPA with 514.
LTO also apprehended 386 delinquent motor vehicles in Region IX or Zamboanga Peninsula, 357 in Region XI or Davao Region and 250 in Region XII or SOCCSKSARGEN.
It said that in Metro Manila, 251 delinquent motor vehicles were also apprehended.
Mendoza vowed to intensify the strategic operations in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon and Calabarzon or the three regions with the most number of delinquent motor vehicles based on the LTO data.
Mendoza earlier ordered all regional directors and district and extension licensing office heads to set up priority lanes for those who would voluntarily renew their motor vehicles with over a year of expired registration.
