The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said Wednesday it surpassed its target for November 2023, driven by improved efficiency in tax collection.

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said in a briefing the agency collected P75.338 billion in November, surpassing its target of P74.249 billion by 1.5 percent or P1.089 billion.

“The November performance was primarily driven by efficiency in tax collection,” Rubio said.

“We are on track to achieve our full-year target,” Rubio said. The Customs seeks to collect P1 trillion this year.

Data showed that from January to November, the BOC also surpassed its target of P795.966 billion by 2.2 percent, or P17.685 billion, with total revenue of P813.651 billion.

The figure was also up by 3.09 percent, or P24.405 billion, from P789.246 billion registered in the same period last year.

The BOC said it saw effective customs operations, increased trade activity and rigorous revenue collection under the stewardship of Rubio.

It also collaborated with the Department of Trade and industry (DTI), Strategic Trade Management Office (STMO) and ARISE Plus Philippines to promote facilitation of customs procedures and improve trade competitiveness.

Rubio said the BOC’s achievements reflected its dedication to promoting growth of the economy. These successes will provide funding for significant government programs and services that will benefit the Filipino, he said.
