The German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (GPCCI) and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) signed a memorandum of understanding Wednesday (MOU) designating GPCCI as an ARTA champion.

German Ambassador to the Philippines Andreas Michael Pfaffernoschke witnessed the signing during the first day of ARTA’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Convention 2023 at the Philippine International Convention Center at Pasay City.

“As an ARTA champion, GPCCI is committed to bridging the business community and the government, aiming to streamline processes and reduce bureaucratic challenges,” GPCCI president Stefan Schmitz said.

“This collaboration is more than just an agreement on paper. It is a proactive step towards creating a more dynamic and competitive business landscape in the Philippines,” he said.

Prior to the MOU, GPCCI and ARTA participated in a series of stakeholders’ forum organized by GPCCI’s policy and advocacy committee (PAC) as both aim to create a partnership that will benefit both ends.

The MOU highlighted the public-private partnership between the two entities towards the ease of doing business as well as GPCCI’s commitment and advocacy to improve the business environment and support the ease of conducting business in the Philippines.

Pfaffernoschke endorsed the partnership, underscoring its potential to ease business operations for German companies in the Philippines and to strengthen the public-private sector collaboration.

“As you know, Germany is a very important trading partner of the Philippines. I am convinced that this MOU will help to make business easier for German companies in the Philippines that will help develop the bilateral economic relations, improve the local investment climate, and promote welfare for the Filipinos,” he said.
