The Taguig City government has started accepting permit and license applications from business establishments situated in the villages formerly under the jurisdiction of Makati City.

“The City of Taguig, through the Business Permits and Licensing Office, is now accepting registration of Embo (Enlisted Men’s Barrio) businesses and payments of 2023 business taxes,” the local government stated Wednesday in its advisory, which aims to provide lower tax rates and business-friendly policies for residents.

To register a business, the local government advised applicants to present an application form, current Makati business permit, latest official receipt, 2×2 formal picture of the owner, location sketch, and 3R picture of the establishment’s exterior.

For replacements of Makati business permits, applicants must register with the Business Permits and Licensing Office, present the necessary documents, and wait for the permit to be released. The process is seamless and secures permits.

Replacements can be processed if business taxes for 2023 have been paid, shortening the renewal time for 2024.

The process can be done at the SM Aura Satellite Office and Taguig City Hall.

In September 2022, the Supreme Court – Special Third Division denied Makati City’s motion for reconsideration in a territorial dispute case, stating that the city cannot exercise jurisdiction over Parcels 3 and 4, PSU 2031, which include Fort Bonifacio and the Inner Fort comprising of Barangays Pembo, Comembo, Cembo, South Cembo, West Rembo, East Rembo and Pitogo.

The court also barred Makati City from improving or treating these areas as part of its territory.

Mayor Laarni Cayetano assured that Taguig is prepared to govern the affected communities with the same commitment as its 28 barangays.

She said Taguig’s vision is to create a transformative, lively, and caring city, focusing on making citizens active participants in the city’s progress and creating opportunities for businesses and jobs.
