The Tingog party-list group has launched a two-day relief operation for communities affected by recent flash floods in Davao City.
The heavy rains which struck the city late Wednesday until Thursday morning brought severe flooding to multiple barangays, with Brgys. Talomo, and Aplaya being the hardest hit areas.
Led by the group’s nominees, Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Jude Acidre as well as Speaker Martin Romualdez, the party-list group distributed hot meals and other food items to residents affected by the floods.
The Tingog food trucks went around the hardest hit neighborhoods, serving fresh meals to more than 3,000 individuals and families.
Rep. Yedda Marie said Tingog aims “to provide immediate relief and comfort to those impacted during this difficult time.”
“We are committed to helping our kababayans whenever a crisis hits,” she said. “Even when the rains are strong, the spirit of bayanihan in our communities remains stronger. Tingog party-list will always be here to serve,” she added.
The two-day Tingog relief operation was conducted on Nov. 9 to 10.
In a similar act of compassion, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte came to the aid of over a hundred families in Davao City affected by the widespread flooding.
Through his “Pulong Pulong ni Pulong” program, Duterte and his staff distributed food packs and extended other forms of assistance to the affected residents.
“‘Action always beats intention’ is what the members of the ‘Pulong Pulong ni Pulong’ always keep in mind. We acted quickly to assist as many Dabawenyos as we could. While the flooding has subsided, we are continuously reaching out to the displaced families,” Duterte said.
