Four companies recognized for environment programs

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) recognized four companies for exemplary environmental performance in the recently-concluded 49th Philippine Business Conference and Expo (PBC&E) at the Manila Hotel.

The Excellence in Ecology and Economy Awards (E3 Awards) recipients included Lomboy Farms for the Environmental Innovation Award (small enterprise category), Holcim Philippines Inc. for the Environmental Stewardship Award (large enterprise category), LTA Foods Manufacturing Corp. (medium enterprise category) and Ampleon Philippines Inc. (large enterprise category).

Lomboy Farms gained recognition for its innovative farming practices particularly its post-harvest processing system which helps reduce waste and increase product recoverability, while Holcim Philippines was recognized for its outstanding commitment and success in environmental protection and sustainability by developing and providing sustainable and innovative building solutions.

LTA Foods received the award for its outstanding waste management initiatives such as transforming waste materials into fertilizer and its efforts to promote the cultivation of cardava, commonly known as “saba” banana, among local growers, showcasing its dedication to sustainable agriculture and community empowerment.

Ampleon Philippines excelled for its greenhouse gas emission reduction initiatives and for actively engaging stakeholders in the implementation of its programs, contributing immensely to its business and environmental sustainability.

The E3 Awards is a project of the PCCI environment and climate change committee led by director for environment and infrastructure Felino Palafox Jr., environment and climate change chairman Jose Leviste Jr. and environment and climate change vice-chairman Jesus Reyes.

It seeks to recognize companies with pioneering and innovative environmental programs, improved environmental performance or outstanding environmental stewardship projects.
