Kabayan party-list has forged a partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) to provide affordable housing to marginalized groups, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), Rep. Ron Salo said.

Salo said the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing Program (4PH Program), a top priority of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and DSHUD, “is a beacon of hope for millions of Filipinos seeking decent and affordable housing.

“The signing of a memorandum of agreement solidifies our commitment to the 4PH Program. Through our MOA, we aim to deliver affordable housing to our marginalized constituents who need it the most,” he said.

The 4PH Program aims to construct one million housing units annually for the next six years, responding to the housing requirements of 6.5 million Filipinos.

“Consistent with our advocacies in Kabayan party-list, our target beneficiaries are marginalized communities which include OFWs and seafarers, public health workers, midwives, and volunteer groups. These groups, though often overlooked, will be at the forefront of our housing initiatives,” Salo stressed.

Salo, one of the principal authors of the law creating the DHSUD, has already been in coordination with the DHSUD since earlier this year.

“After months of close coordination with DHSUD, I am glad that we have finally found a common time to ink the MOA,” he noted.

“One of the first housing projects initiated by Kabayan party-list will be located in Calauag, Quezon province. The processing of documents and the verification of beneficiaries for the project are already underway, marking the beginning of a transformative journey toward better housing for Filipinos, especially those from the marginalized sectors,” he said.
