Cebu Pacific still top domestic airline —  CAB

Cebu Pacific retained its position as the country’s leading domestic airline in the first half of 2023, according to the Civil Aeronautics Board.

Data from the CAB showed that Cebu Pacific and unit Cebgo flew 7.6 million domestic passengers from January to June, followed by Philippine Airlines and PAL Express with a combined 4.09 million domestic passengers and AirAsia Philippines with 2.53 million passengers.

AirSwift Transport Inc. carried 202,154 domestic passengers, while Royal Air Charter Services Inc., Sunlight Air and Island Aviation Corp. recorded 58,448 passengers, 23,820 passengers and 4,887 passengers, respectively.

The country’s total domestic passengers reached 14.6 million domestic passengers in the first half of 2023, up 51 percent from 9.7 million in the same period last year.

PAL, on the other hand, retained its status as the leading carrier in terms of international travelers with 2.7 million in the first six months. It was followed by Cebu Pacific with 906,090 international passengers and Philippines Air Asia with 477,616 international passengers. Darwin G. Amojelar
