Real estate magnate Manuel Villar plans to tap a Korean company to operate a new $1-billion casino and hotel complex within his 3,500-hectare estate in southern part of Metro Manila this year and develop a second casino in the coming years.
Villar said he was in talks with the Korean company to operate the 80-hectare casino and entertainment complex between Las Piñas and Parañaque.
“We are finalizing talks with a Korean firm to operate the casino for us. We will probably start operating this year, or at the latest first quarter of next year,” Villar told reporters Tuesday.
The Villar Group is converting the Global South Mall in Las Pinas into an integrated resort casino near Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the three existing integrated resort and casinos of City of Dreams, Okada Manila and Solaire Resorts & Casino in Paranaque.
“The first floor of the mall will be converted into casino, while the upper floors will be converted into hotel rooms,” Villar said.
Villar said he was also planning to build another casino within Villar City as part of future developments for the newly-launched estate.
He said aside from the casino, his group also planned to put up more residential, commercial and office developments as well as a concert venue and a theme park.
He said Villar City would be developed as the biggest and greenest estate development in the country, competing with Makati central business district and Bonifacio Global City.
Based on the masterplan, Villar City will have 15 satellite cities which are seen to complement one another to provide residents, entrepreneurs and companies with a conducive environment.
These planned satellite cities will include a modern CBD, a tech valley, a university town and a premier lifestyle hub set amid verdant landscapes with 1 million trees. They will also be seamlessly connected via a thoughtfully-planned road network that links to major thoroughfares such as Daang Hari and MCX.
