The City Government of Caloocan, through the partnership of the city’s Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), conducted a livelihood distribution program for persons with disabilities (PWDs) on Thursday, August 10.
Members of three PWD organizations, Bagumbong Person with Disabilities Association, Inc (Brgy. 171), Tender Care for PWD Association, Inc. (Brgy. 175), and Bigkis ng PWD Association, Inc. (Brgy. 24) received high-speed sewing machines and other sewing equipment from the said program.
City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan thanked the DOLE and the different agencies of the city government for the program and called on the recipients to fully utilize the livelihood packages to help with daily income.
“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE pati na sa mga kagawaran ng ating pamahalaang lungsod sa, walang patid na mga proyekto natin upang bigyan ng pangkabuhayan ang ating mga kababayan, lalo na ang mga kasama sa vulnerable sectors tulad ng mga may kapansanan at kanilang pamilya,” Mayor Along stated.
“Hiling ko po na palaguin niyo po ito at balang araw po’y maging katuwang kayo ng pamahalaang lungsod sa pagtulong din na magbigay-oportunidad sa iba pang mga nangangailangan,” he added.
The City Mayor noted that the livelihood distribution is just a part of his advocacy to maintain a brand of governance that is inclusive in providing equal opportunities to his constituents.
“Kamakailan lamang po ay nauna na tayong nagkaroon livelihood program para sa ibang mga miyembro ng vulnerable sectors kagaya ng senior citizens at single parents. Asahan niyo po na patuloy ang pagkilos ng pamahalaang lungsod upang tuparin ang ating pangarap na isang inklusibo, payapa, at masaganang Caloocan para sa lahat ng mga Batang Kankaloo,” Mayor Along said.
In addition to these existing programs to empower PWDs, the city government also plans to encourage businesses to hire more PWD employees in the future.
