BDO Unibank Inc. said Thursday it is waiving remittance fees on donations sent to BDO Remit offices abroad from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, 2023 to help Filipinos whose lives and properties were devastated and damaged by Typhoon Egay recently.

The bank said those who want to help can send their donations BDO Foundation Inc., ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation Inc., GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc. and Philippine Red Cross.

“Typhoon Egay posed another big challenge to our countrymen. We hope that somehow, the hardships they feel will be alleviated through zero remittance fee on donations that will come from our fellow Filipinos overseas,” said BDO Remittance head and senior vice president Genie Gloria.

Several provinces declared a state of calamity to recover from the damage caused by Typhoon Egay. These included the provinces of Pampanga, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Cavite, Mountain Province and Apayao.

BDO ranked as the largest bank in terms of total assets, loans, deposits and trust funds under management based on published statements of condition as of March 31, 2023.
