No damage to Davao, Mati airports after quake — CAAP

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines assured the public no damage was found at the airports in Davao and Mati following a magnitude 5.3 earthquake in Davao Oriental Wednesday morning.

“CAAP reports that no damages were incurred in its airport facilities, installations, buildings, and infrastructures at Davao International Airport and Mati Airport, which was struck by the magnitude 5.3 earthquake earlier today,” said CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio.

“All passengers, personnel, and stakeholders within the vicinity of CAAP-operated premises are also accounted for in both airports,” he added.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the epicenter was seven kilometers southwest of Governor Generoso town and happened around 8:57 a.m. at a depth of 17 kilometers. The seismology agency recorded the following instrumental intensities.

Intensity III – Pikit, Cotabato; Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; Nabunturan, Davao de Oro; Malungon, Sarangani Intensity II – City of Kidapawan, Cotabato; Matanao, Davao del Sur; Davao City; Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental; Kiamba, Sarangani; Tampakan and Koronadal City, South Cotabato; General Santos City Intensity I – Magpet and Alamada, Cotabato; Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; Malapatan, Sarangani; Polomolok, South Cotabato; President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.
