The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is expecting heavy traffic along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue due to a week-long repair works along the stretch of EDSA Bus Way from Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City to Munoz Street in Quezon City beginning Friday night.

The emergency asphalt overlay and reblocking on both lanes of the EDSA Bus Carousel will be conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways – National Capital Region Office starting 10 p.m. of Aug. 4 until 5 a.m. of Aug. 9.

The MMDA gave the DPWH-NCR its go signal to conduct the road works due to the damage caused by the past typhoon and monsoon rains.

The DPWH reported that partial cost of damages to roads and bridges nationwide due to southwest monsoon and typhoon Egay has reached P7 million. The biggest damage cost reported was in Cordillera Administrative Region at P2.3 million, closely followed by Region 1 at P2.2 million.

“We decided that instead of conducting it every weekend, sometimes it’s left unfinished, let’s have one-time, big-time repairs instead. Fifteen sites will be repaired simultaneously. The road works will run for the whole day. If it will be limited to nighttime, the repairs will take 15 days, there will be heavy traffic,” said MMDA chairman Romando Artes in an interview with Teleradyo.
