The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), in coordination with the Taguig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, has changed vehicle lane assignments along the northbound of C5 Road from the SLEX down ramp leading to Centennial Village.
The move came following the recent landslide incident along C5 Road in Sitio Maliwanag in Barangay Western Bicutan.
The innermost lane is designated for trucks while the middle and outermost lanes are for light vehicles only while the bike lane will remain closed until further notice.
“Please be advised that these lane adjustments may cause traffic buildup. We encourage you to plan your travel accordingly. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Drive safely,” the local government of Taguig stated in its advisory.
The city government earlier ordered the evacuation of 23 families following the landslide during the onslaught of Typhoon Egay late last week.
Local officials earlier ordered the temporary closure of the bike lane and outermost lane of C5 Road after the incident happened around 6:33 a.m. last Friday. The lanes adjacent to the incident site has been closed to reduce ground shaking that could cause further landslides.
A pre-emptive evacuation was also conducted at Nabua Covered Court to evacuate the 23 families living near the landslide area to ensure their safety and no one else would be in danger.
A perimeter wall was destroyed by the landslide.
Personnel from the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Local Utility Office, Traffic Management Office, Public Order and Safety Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and Department of Public Works and Highways responded after the incident.
Village officials said no one among the people residing nearby was hurt. They added a pet dog was rescued from the collapsed wall but died later due to the severe injuries it sustained.
