BUREAU of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco will directly lead and control a unit within the agency primarily to combat human trafficking.
Tansingco said the unit, called the Travel Control and Enforcement Unit, used to be under the BI’s intelligence division, but will now be directly under Tansingco’s office.
The TCEU will also be renamed as the immigration protection and border enforcement section (I-PROBES).
The primary goal behind this reorganization is to strengthen the agency’s ability to intercept human trafficking and illegal recruitment of victims at the borders,” said Tansingco.
He said the strategic move aims to enhance supervision and coordination in addressing trafficking concerns, ultimately ensuring better protection for Filipino citizens departing the country.
