Bowling kicks off Pre-AIMAG women’s tilt

A bowling competition at the Starmall Bowling Lanes in Mandaluyong kicked off the Women’s Indoor and Para Games Festival.

As part of the campaign for Women in Sports, this is a pet project of Commissioner Olivia “Bong” G. Coo and the Philippine Sports Commission with the theme of “Dash to the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.”

The event started with the opening remarks led by Coo, a World Bowling Hall of Fame awardee, expressing her aim to expand women’s participation and camaraderie in every competition.

Present at the event were coach Joseph Slowinski and Artegal Barrientos, who is part of the team that brought home a gold in the Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships tournament.

“Bayani ang Babaeng Manlalaro,” this is how Commissioner Bong Coo cheered for the participants before opening the floor of bowling to 64 strong women who gathered for competition today.

The weeklong all-women event will also have fencing, chess and para chess, netball, and athletics that will run until July 21.
