MPT Mobility Corp., the innovations arm of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. said Tuesday it has submitted an unsolicited offer to a local government unit outside Metro Manila to address the latter’s mobility challenges through tech-driven mobility solutions.
MPT Mobility assistant vice president for corporate affairs Leo Gonzales said his company is investing about P2.5 billion to roll out of its Smart Urban Mobility Solutions in partnership with the unidentified LGU.
Gonzales, without disclosing the identity of the LGU, said it proposed a 15-year concession period for the project.
“We also plan to approach other key urban centers to understand more their transportation and mobility problems and hopefully pursue discussions and studies with them to determine if our integrated solutions are really what they need. Each urban center is unique, so the solutions we can offer them may be varied,” Gonzales said.
“No specific plans yet for the roll out but we are considering 3 to 4 urban centers to start discussions with,” he added.
SUM Solutions is a land mobility ecosystem that provides intelligent transportation management systems, peak-hour congestion pricing solutions, area-based monitoring and enforcement capabilities, smart parking systems, efficient public transportation and fleet management solutions, and roadside assistance support.
These integrated services, supported by relevant policies from the LGUs, will help create more efficient transportation systems, reduce congestion, and promote road safety among their constituents.
“We are excited to work with LGUs to provide solutions, address their mobility problems, and create lasting social impact and value in the lives of their residents, allowing them to move freely and provide opportunities to improve local economies,” MPT Mobility chief executive Rodrigo E. Franco said.
Aside from providing innovative and tech-driven solutions, SUM Solutions will also provide capacity-building to key LGU officials on managing and using these technologies.
This approach will ensure that each LGU received the support it needs to create an efficient, sustainable, and accessible-to-all transportation system.
“With our transportation and mobility sector expertise, we can create solutions customized to each LGU’s needs. The social and economic benefits to residents and business establishments will be substantial,” Franco said.
To support this, MPT Mobility has partnered with Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd., a Singapore-based company known for its world-class solutions that help to create smarter, and sustainable transportation systems.
ST Engineering has 800 smart city projects in over 150 countries worldwide.
