The largest transport network vehicle service alliance in the country said Thursday the government’s opening of more than 10,000 slots would help produce much-needed livelihood opportunities in Metro Manila and neighboring areas.
“The new slots will present new livelihood opportunities for fellow Filipinos who are looking for new income streams in the post-pandemic era,” said the TNVS Alliance of the Philippines.
“We look forward to welcoming these new TNVS drivers to our community as we provide safe and convenient transport service that every Filipino deserves,” the group said.
“We are seeing more and more passengers on the road needing a ride,” it said, adding that commuters were “relieved and sincerely grateful to the LTFRB [Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board] for the new slots as this will help to reduce the challenges of traveling in Metro Manila.”
The LTFRB issued Board Resolution No. 022, Series of 2023 opening 10,300 new TNVS slots in Metro Manila and the MUCEP areas. MUCEP includes cities in Metro Manila and in the provinces of Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and Rizal.
The LTFRB said it “sees the need to open additional slots to maintain a sufficient number of TNVS to supply the existing demand.”
