MGen president Jaime Azurin said the completion of the 75-MW solar plant in Baras, Rizal through PH Renewables Inc. this month would add to the company’s attributable capacity.

PHRI is MGreen’s joint venture with Mitsui’s local unit MitRenewables Philippine Corp.

“After Baras, we will reach 200 MW…We’re already in testing, so it will be commissioned already,” Azurin said.

Azurin said they also planned to start construction of another RE project within the year.

“‘We hope we will be able to add. Our target is 1,500 MW and we expect some major expansion projects in the next six months to a year and this will not be the 50 to 60 MW, but bigger projects,” he said.

MGreen hopes to complete its 1,500 MW RE target by 2030.

“The way we do it is commissioned. So it is not by pipeline we have, but to commission is another thing. So the 1,500 is attributable. That is operational,” Azurin said.

MGreen recently completed a 68-MW solar plant in Ilocos Norte in partnership with Vena Energy.

The company also owns a 51-percent equity stake in PowerSource First Bulacan Solar Inc.’s 50-MW power plant in San Miguel, Bulacan.

The Bulacan solar plant commenced operations in May 2021.
