New league NUCAA opens with basketball tourney on Saturday

National Universities and Colleges Athletic Association chairman Atty. Carmelo Arcilla welcomed all participating teams in the country’s newest scholastic league during the officers’ and athletic directors’ meeting at the Conference Room of the Civil Aeronautics Board last Wednesday in Pasay City.

NUCAA officers, led by chairman Atty. Carmelo L. Arcilla (4th from right), are shown during their recent meeting four days before the league’s basketball opening ceremonies at San Juan Gym in San Juan City.

For giving opportunities to their student athletes to show their wares and be discovered, and to fulfill their ambitions in the near future, outside of pioneer leagues NCAA and UAAP, among others, Arcilla, who heads the CAB as Executive Director and is a known sports enthusiast from Rizal Province, lauded the great efforts of the newly accredited NUCAA member-institutions, which will parade their banners and colors in the March 5 opening ceremonies at San Juan Gymnasium in San Juan City.
