Firefighter mother places 7th in Mrs. Universe 2022

Still, the Mrs. Universe title has eluded Filipina married women after our Philippine representative, Veronica Yu, finished seventh place. Elena Maximova of Udmurtia, a republic in the Russian Federation, won the title during finals held recently in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The runners-up were Mrs. Vietnam Hoang Thi Thanh Nga (1st), Mrs. Venezuela Esther Suppa (2nd), Mrs. Indian Ocean Zoya Sheikh (3rd), and Mrs. Korea Seo Yeon Choi (4th).

As Mrs. Universe Philippines 2022, I hope to continue my advocacies through the Mrs. Universe Philippines organization, in partnership with the Commission on Women, to make my project on building a refuge house for battered women possible,” said the former Rotary Club president.

Mrs. Universe seventh-placer Veronica Yu represents the Philippines in the international pageant.

Ashley Subijano Montenegro eyes a back-to-back in Miss Eco International 2023

“I’ll give it my all to claim the title for the second year,” said Ashley Subijano Montenegro, now in Cairo, Egypt competing in Miss Eco International 2023.

It’s not going to be a walk in the park for Subijano to achieve a back-to-back win as we saw it last year when two Filipinas fell short of achieving the rare feat. This is the first time for the 22-year-old, daughter of Bb. Pilipinas-World 1994 Cara Subijano and former GMA’s Unang Hirit host Hans Montenegro, to compete internationally after the Miss Charm 2019 pageant, where she was supposed to compete, being the first winner of Miss Charm Philippines, was scrubbed due to COVID-19.

We’ll know come finals night on March 3 if the statuesque model will inherit the crown currently owned by compatriot and reigning Miss Eco International 2022 Kathleen Paton.

The Egypt-based Miss Eco International, the biggest beauty pageant in the Middle East, chooses its winner to be the ECO Queen for the cause of global eco-tourism, in support of the United Nations Development Goals.
